Fashionistas Into Seoul Final

Venus Williams and Maria Kirilenko will bring their fashion flair to the court along with their tennis for the Hansol Korea Open final tomorrow.

Williams, who unveiled EleVen, her new line of sportswear at the US Open, made quick work of Flavia Pennetta 6-2, 6-2. Kirilenko, who sports Stella McCartney originals, sent Eleni Daniilidou packing 7-5, 6-0.

Not bad for a Tier IV final.

Venus has beaten MariaK in their prior two meetings without dropping a set. I'd expect a similar result this time around.

Hi Craig.... about the YEC qualification (hope i'm writing this in the correct place) - there are 7 qualification spots - the 8th is a wild card spot usually given to a grand slam winner who didn't manage to qualify.

Venus was 8th in the race BEFORE Korea. It's great that she is working to secure her race position BUT all she needs to do is stay put and even if she dropped a place then she'd probably still have to be given that wild card.

Sharapova is the one who should be worried.... if she falls below 7th there aren't rules in place to assure her of a place in the YEC - both Serena and her sister have Grand Slam Titles and, according to the rules, they should be first in line for that last spot.

Seems there are a few people (e.g. Bartoli) who REALLY want that spot.

If I misunderstoof the rules feel free to correct.

b,

I thought that was only true for the men's event. Unless the WTA changed something, I don't think they hold a spot for a Slam champ.
