Safina Stops Jankovic in Quest for No. 1



Fabulous. The last thing the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour needs is a world No. 1 who's never even contested a Slam final.

Craig, I was rooting for Safina so hard it made no sense. When she double faulted away her first service game and when she double faulted twice serving for the match - I was like oh no, come on girl. You only have to give this little girl in a red dress a little hope and she will try to run you ragged. I tell you I have never seen so many people on message boards cheering against a player to become No. 1. Not even a slam final and you want to be No. 1 and the commentators sounds like they were hoping it would happen. I may not like Ana but at least she won a slam and contested 3 finals before she became No. 1
