Didn't see the first set, saw the second set, and wasn't able to see the third set, but I was trying to channel good energy to Venus, didn't work. Tomorrow, I'll be rootin' on Nadia. I just find Janko low-class and unlikeable.

brooklyn, I left home in the middle of the first set as I just could not stand to see Venus waste all those break points. She creates the opportunities and then plays really crappy to lose those opportunities. I am like you I will so be rooting on Nadia in that match (that is if I even watch it). Man, there are so many things that happened in that match. Sanchez and the stop watch. What next with this girl? Clearly, the media has not see her for what she is at all?

I saw the second set and stopped watching in the third.

I missed the stopwatch nonsense but from all the sites I've visited she's turned a lot of people against her.

My thoughts exactly.

I wish Venus would be more selective about coming inside the baseline on the return because she floats alot of returns long. And Sanchez is a nutcase. He was clearly leaning over his box as a form of intimidation with the stopwatch. Venus should have complained about that. I just hope Venus plays more matches. I want her in the YEC.

Venus should be in the YEC , Brooklyn. Vera and Aga are the 2 main competitors behind her and with Aga not being able to obtain a Visa for the Kremlin Cup, she will most likely not be able to catch the two.

I don't know what Jelena (and her camp) are thinking, but this is not the way or time to make a name for oneself. The tour just lost one of the more polarizing players in Justine. Jelena shouldn't be in such a hurry to put that target on her back when she is only now just tasting success. Come next year, her antics may cease to be seen as a breath of fresh air.

What I cannot understand is that this girl has been on tour for almost 6 years. During this time she has underachieved and has never made much of herself and her limited game. All of a sudden she believes that she is the cat's meow and puts on this face which makes everyone think that she is this happy go lucky person. Someone posted here (or elsewhere cannot remember) that her mother must be in cahoots with the whole situation. Either that or that smile on her face is a sign of just how oblivious she really seems to be.

I think it's great to have another player who is not afraid of anyone and willing to show a middle finger (figuratively of course) to anyone who doesn't like it. Her defense is spectacular - I've never seen anyone do it better. So go Jelena :)

P.S. Her coach is a moron, however Venus did occasionally take almost twice as much time as allowed by the rules.

I think jj has really improved since the us open and must be given credit 4 that. All she was doing then was stabbing and slicing at her opponents attempted winners waiting for them to make errors. Now she's hitting really impressive winners and being aggressive and i think that's cool and part of the reason for this win. Venus lacks stamina. I don't know if it's her age or her anemia because once a match goes past a certain length u can be sure she's going to be too tired to pull it off. She simply could not maintain the level of intensity that jj could. Can u imagine If she had played 3 consecutive weeks? like jj ... As for the antics those people are hypocrits. How can u spend a whole minute debating with your coach and mother about your opponent wasting time while she is waiting for you so she can serve? Oh and i was also disappointed that Venus was not able to win when she looked so good in her outfit. It's one of her best eleven ones imo.

Notice that there was no stopwatch in yesterday's match. I have a feeling about Jelena Jankovic but I am waiting for someone else to say it. If no one has seen it yet then it could very well be my paranoia and I am seeing ghosts where none exists.

Jelena's a helluva defender and a great athlete. Venus is either suffering from that chronic anemia or she's going to have to dig deep and go the Mackie Shilstone route in terms of ramping up her fitness.

She can be a heckuva slam contender until her early 30's but she's going to have to make the necessary adjustments that her sister's made.
