Spain 2, France 0

Rafael Nadal beat Frenchman Gilles Simon 6-2, 7-5, 7-5 to earn the right to play his compatriot in the final four.

Two Spaniards in the semis of a hardcourt Slam.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Yes! It was a good test for Nadal, particularly in the second and third set. I think it's good for a player to be stretched a bit, but good on him for finishing it three.

For me, he wasn't as aggressive in the second and parts of the third set, as he was in the first. He also needed to rely a bit more on his second serve in those latter sets. While any hiccups may expose vulnerabilities it also gives Nadal and Uncle Toni a window into areas in need of tweaking.

I'm just happy he will, at the very least, receive the same amount of points this year for this tournament as he did last year. Now, win, Rafa, win!!!
