I didn't see the match. Had no Internet connection for the duration, so I couldn't even post an open thread, and had to leave home during the telecast replay. But, as expected, Rafael Nadal beat David Ferrer 6-2, 7-5 for his fifth consecutive Barcelona title.

I didn't get to see this match but I'm thrilled for Rafa! Vamos!
Congrats Rafa! Truly awesome.
where does he put all those things?
Its clay season, we should just pencil him in at the beginning and end of each tournament. Did anyone watch the match? No Fed Cup love Craig. Good fight by the Americans today. That Alexa Glatch gave those girls a lot of trouble with that slice. She did the same thing to Serena in Miami, kept Serena off balance the whole match. She plays a bit like Santoro. I hear that the final will be played on clay - is it that the Italians get choice of venue, and if so, how come?
Rafael Nadal -- he's HOTTTTTTTT!!!!!
but -wait a minute ...there's been a criminal negligence happening....
WHY WASN"T he included by the photographers and ELLE Mag among HOTTIES on the beach?
WHY WHY WHY????????!!!!

now you know why he always pulls his trousers behind........he's trying to find more room....
Ho ho ho @ Karen. Pencil him in? Hmmm. Are you tired of hearing about Rafa winning another clay tourney? Did you agree back in 06-07 that 'we should just pencil Fed in at the beginning and end of each (non-clay) tournament'? Ho ho ho. Aren't we fans funny - I can remember thinking much the same thing back then. Irrational beings...
Oh, and yes, vamos, Rafa! Way to win another clay title - amazing to 5-peat!
now -- it's DJOKOVIC's turn to defend Rome.
let's see who gets to the semis and finals.
maybe a "hottie".....
why don't people already make their guesses on who could get to semis and finals or might win? just for fun......
or at least who do you WANT to win?
DON'T laugh if it's Roger...he's very capable u know. ...and this is the third straight WEEK Rafa is playing..
even the Clay Monster can have bad days....and as he has said:
"I CAN LOSE TO ANYONE....EVEN on clay".
murray?
The trophy is so big! Maybe thats why so many players have an attachment to the tournament.
@ Karen - Totally agree. Nadal has got to be the choice for each and every clay tournament he participates in!

Oddman, I recall people saying how the rest of the guys in the ATP had no balls when Roger was winning everything, I guess either the same could be true now or it could be that Roger and Rafa were that good. Take your pick. On clay there is no doubt that Nadal is unbeatable. He either has to have an off day (like last year's Rome match with JCF) or someone comes out on fire and just goes for broke (but then we have seen that right). The fellow is just too good on this surface and frankly speaking when you are in a competitive sport and you have no competitors, then what is the use?
Yes, Karen, I agree. I get that it's a bit boring right now, Rafa would seem unbeatable to many. I'm just comparing fans - I'm sure many Fedfans weren't the least bit bored by Roger's domination, and may have been taken aback (or annoyed!) by similar pronouncements at the time. I can recall saying this myself. When it's domination by a player you're a fan of, it's not nearly so boring, is it.
Sorry for stating the obvious, guys.
Man, I would love to see a Rafa/Djoker French Open final.
