For all you gentlemen and ladies who enjoy scantily dressed women, check out these photos of Dominika Cibulkova, Victoria Azarenka, Alona Bondarenko, and Anna Chakvetadze.
I barely recognized Anna.

woot !
I roll my eyes. A bit of skin is part of the business but tennis fans are won by on-court personality and spirit. Anna Kournikova was, in my opinion, the exception not the rule.
But I guess the thinking goes, if we can objectify them on the way up the rankings ladder, guys will stick around to watch the actual tennis. Of course, if these were a couple of really hot men... I fully embrace my double-standard. ^_~

That was what I was trying to tell yesterday on another post. Francesca Schiavone also benefits from it. But there is the risk of losing these players as a "top players". When they earn too much through modeling, they lost motivation to practice tennis that hard. I believe that was the case with Anna. She was a prodigy kid.
I heard she was a prodigy. Personally it never seemed she wanted it less; Anna lost her nerve, and when it happened the modeling contracts offered an easy out.
It was the oddest thing. The more (mostly positive) attention she received off-court, the more she cracked on-court. To this day I have never seen a confidence collapse like that from a player. Not for a game or two, but for every game. At the time it was infuriating because she was still being marketed as the face of tennis, but looking back it's just sad.
