Federer has such an easy draw it's unreal...

Murray has the toughest Quarter IMO. Followed by Rafa.

I think this thread will spawn a gazillion comments. From the ornery to the conspiratorial. Everybody will be defending their idol and emotions will stir (again).

*yawn*

We should all wait until balls are struck in court before we say who's supposed to land in who's draw, who's strong and who's weak, etc.

(how's that for pre-empting?)

Have at it.

What's to comment about. Draw looks typical to me.

I'll probably still do a draw report after the qualifiers get placed, but I'm with lynney62. This is a typical ATP Slam draw.

Fed gets the benefit of the #1 seed. But yeah he has a bye until the Semi-finals. Unless the sky falls he's in. Will the New York crowd be firmly in his favor again, or from the semis on do they root for the challenger?

I like Nadal's draw only because if he gets to the second weekend he'll be tested by some players who will grip and rip. So he should be in tune to play the ball needed. I think he's going to be an emotional ball of fire. Like he's been unleashed from a cage.

The two best quarter-finals are obviously: Roddick/Joker and Murray/JMP.

Again its up to the field to stop Fed from adding riches to his life. Lots of great storylines for potential winners. But, historically if Nadal wins you'd have to think it's pretty good odds we'd never seen TWO career slams in the same year.

Hey there folks - I just wanted to let everyone know that I am basically not working for two weeks and spending the time watching live tennis. As a result, I'm focusing more on my own not very well-updated (usually) tennis blog during the U.S. Open:

http://matchpointace.blogspot.com/

I'm going to be at the tournament every day next week, and will post every night. Check it out, if you're so inclined.

If Rafa wins he will actually have the golden slam ... only Agassi and Steffi have done that (right?)

But that said Rafa has a long way to go I think till he gets his confidence back ... I just don't seem him getting past the quarters - I have hope in my heart but reality in my head
